Chief Pilot – Alberta

The Edmonton Police Service is looking for an individual to act as a resource to existing Edmonton Police Service pilots and flight crew. This position will provide leadership and direction to the Flight Operations Unit and effective support to the members of the Edmonton Police Service and the citizens of Edmonton. The responsibilities of this Chief Pilot position will include:

• Observe and monitor the pilots in a non-operational capacity as they carry out their duties as aircrew members, providing guidance in relation to safe operating practices.
• Supervision of EPS helicopter pilots as it relates to aviation (3 full time and 2 relief pilots).
• Indirect supervision of one (1) helicopter engineer and seven (7) fixed wing pilots.
• Ensure that EPS aircrafts are maintained to a high standard; this includes ordering and tracking aircraft parts.
• Coordination of maintenance schedule, post-maintenance inspections, ground runs and test flights. 
• Responsible for the development and maintenance of a comprehensive in-house training program.
• Assist with day to day operational requirements of the Unit.
• Responsible for the research and acquisition of new equipment.
• Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

• Completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade.
• Commercial Helicopter License (CPL-H), Night Rating and valid Class 5 automobile license are all required.
• Commercial Fixed Wing License (CPL-A), Group 4 Instrument Rating, Class 3 Instructor Rating or experience as a training pilot, EC120 or Eurocopter Endorsements are all considered assets.
• Minimum 3000 helicopter flying hours, minimum 300 night flying hours.
• Night vision goggle experience is an asset.
• Proven safety record.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.
• Ability to work shift work and weekends (on occasion).
• Strong organization, communication and time management skills.

• THE EDMONTON POLICE SERVICE WILL CONDUCT AN ENHANCED SECURITY CLEARANCE ON THOSE CANDIDATES WHO HAVE BEEN SHORT-LISTED.

Hours of Work: 
36.9 hours per week.

Salary Range: 
95M, Salary Grade: PT3, $41.08 - $58.69 (Hourly), $3,032.00 - $4,331.40 (Bi-Weekly), $79,135.18 - $113,049.43 (Annually).Chief Pilot
