Job Desc:
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), a key agency of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), is hiring Air Interdiction Agents (Pilots), Office of Air & Marine, to perform aviation law enforcement to detect, interdict and prevent acts of terrorism, and the unlawful movement of people, illegal drugs and other contraband toward or across the U.S. borders. Positions are available in Arizona, California, New Mexico, Texas and Aguadilla, PR.
  • Support CBP’s anti-terrorism operations by performing law enforcement aviation operations utilizing aircraft (airplanes and/or helicopters) for air-to-ground border interdiction of people and conveyances illegally crossing land borders
  • Perform interdiction duties that include intelligence gathering, detecting, intercepting, tracking, apprehending, as well as serving as a liaison with other law enforcement agencies
  • Develop strategies to track aircraft, vessels and people to accomplish an effective and successful interdiction
  • Have at least one year of specialized experience as a pilot-in-command and as a law enforcement officer
  • Have an FAA Commercial Pilot Certification, with the following ratings: Rotorcraft helicopter with instrument rating and Airplane (single-engine land or multi-engine land) with instrument rating; or Rotorcraft helicopter with instrument rating (appropriate U.S. military ratings may be substituted)
  • Be a U.S. Citizen, pass a background security investigation, pass a medical exam and drug test, have a valid state driver’s license and have resided in the United States for at least the last three years
  • Be under the age of 40 at announcement closing, unless you claim Veterans Preference or are currently serving in a federal civilian law enforcement position
  • Complete 15 weeks of classroom and field training at the Air and Marine Basic Academy Training, Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC), Glynco, Ga.
