Chief Training Captain – England

Scope of Duties/Responsibilities

The Chief Training Captain is the nominated person for Flight Crew Training and is responsible to the Accountable Manager. For day to day responsibilities they  will report to the Director of Operations for:

  1. The organisation and execution of all ground and flight training and testing as required by the Company in accordance with current regulations. They are to ensure that the Training is completed in a timely and cost effective manner in accordance with departmental budgets and customer requirements through close liaison with the Director of Operations, Director of Ground Operations and the Ground Operations Cell.
  2. Liaison with the CAA “Operations and Safety” and “Personnel Licencing and Training” departments.
  3. The production of a flight crew training plan in liaison with the Ground Operations Cell.
  4. The content, amendment and production of helicopter checklists.
  5. Recommending the appointment of selected flight crew as Training Captains or Line Training Captains as appropriate.
  6. The content, amendment and distribution of Company training manuals (OM-D) in liaison with the Director of Operations.

Person Specification

Minimum requirements for candidates for this position are:

  • Hold an EASA ATPL (H)

Experience required:

  • Either :
    • 1000 hours pilot in command of aircraft of which 500 hours is pilot in command on twin turbine helicopters; or
    • 1000 hours as co-pilot in HEMS/Police operations of which 500 hours is as pilot in command under supervision and 100 hours pilot in command of twin turbine helicopters.
  • 500 hours operating experience in twin turbine helicopters in an operational environment similar to the intended operation.
  • At least five years relevant work experience of which two years are in an appropriate position.
  • Hold a current TRI on a type utilised on the AOC.
  • Hold a current TRE qualification.
  • Desirable to have multi pilot experience.
  • Desirable to be qualified and preferably instrument rated on the EC135 and EC145.
  • Desirable to have experience of flight with Night Vision Goggles (NVIS/PNVS)
  • Possess a full driving license, be fluent in English and have the right to work in the UK.
