Toll Helicopters (see www.tollgroup.com/tollhelicopters and www.tollgroup.com/acetrainingcentre), part of the Toll Group, operates on a global scale and are looking for a Senior Contract Pilot to manage our NSW HEMS operation.

This is an exciting opportunity for you play an integral role in our specialist helicopter business providing safe, reliable, mission-critical aeromedical services to NSW and ACT Health.

Senior Contract Pilot

Reporting to the Chief Pilot, the Senior Contract Pilot position is based in Bankstown, NSW. You will have overall responsibility for all aspects of the operation, working closely with the Operations Manager and a team of aircrew, engineers and support staff. You will also be responsible for assisting the Chief Pilot to ensure the operation remains compliant in all respects and that all equipment, facilities and documentation required under the regulations for a safe operation remain available and relevant. You will be directly involved in recruitment of more than 100 staff from all disciplines in support of the operation. Ideally you would have significant relevant instructional qualifications and experience, although this is not essential.


  • Excellent people management, resource management and communication skills.
  • Excellent Aeromedical Crew Resource Management skillset and facilitation skills.
  • Commercial acumen and interest in business development.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in commercial aviation operations, preferably as Chief Pilot / Head of Training or in a senior instructional role.
  • Air Transport Pilots’ Licence (Helicopter) with the appropriate endorsements and ratings to act as pilot in command of all NSW / ACT EMS operations authorised by the Operator’s certificate.
  • 2000 hours multi-engine turbine rotary wing flight experience.
  • AW139 Type Endorsement and minimum 200 hrs PIC relevant experience on type.
  • NVG Endorsement with minimum 100 hrs PIC NVG, current on AW139 type.
  • Multi-Engine Command Instrument Rating with minimum 5 renewals, current on AW139 type.
  • Minimum 2 years and 300 hrs PIC in EMS/SAR operation, preferably on AW139.
  • Highly Desirable to hold, or have ability to quickly obtain, CASA Flight Instructor and Flight Examiner approvals for AW139, including for conduct of IPC, NPC, relevant OPCs and Flight Reviews including LL and winching.
  • CASA Class 1 Medical.

The Senior Contract Pilot is a pivotal management position within the Toll Helicopters business.
