Senior Rotary Wing Instructor Role

The role is primarily based at the Sunshine Coast but travel to our other bases will be required.

The duties and responsibilities of the Senior Rotary Wing Instructor are as follows:

  • To support the current Chief Flying Instructor in developing and maintaining training documentation
  • Conduct and supervision of ground and flying training to all levels of your qualification.
  • Assist the Chief Pilot and CFI-RW in conducting and recording of check and standardisation flights with Staff Flying Instructors to ensure standardisation across all bases.
  • Manage and mentor up to 8 junior instructors.
  • Assist in allocating aircraft for each day's flying program and supervision of student bookings to ensure economical utilisation of aircraft and student progression.
  • Assist the Chief Flying Instructor to keep all flying school study material, student briefing handouts and quizzes up to date and accessible to students.
  • Assist the CFI to monitor the progression of students and supervise the maintenance of student records and progress sheets.
  • Maintaining a relationship with maintenance providers and HAAMC to ensure continued aircraft serviceability.


Senior Instructor Rotary Wing


  • Grade 1 instructor rating for at least 12 months
  • 3000hrs total time 500 turbine
  • Class rating with R22, R44 and B206 training experience
  • Night VFR rating and training approval
  • Command instrument rating and training approval
  • Experience in syllabus and lesson plan writing
  • Cert 4 in training and assessment 40110


  • Multi engine instrument rating and training approval
  • EC120, R66, experience
  • AS355, EC135 type ratings and training approval
  • CFI / HOO experience
  • Blue Card
