Job Description:

Helicopter Certified Flight Instructors provide flight, simulator and ground training for students under the guidance of the Chief Instructor. Due to the size of our program, instructors receive a large amount of flight time in the diverse weather and terrain of the Pacific Northwest which helps improve piloting and decision-making skills. Our one-on-one instruction environment allows instructors to work closely with their students and see them through the completion of the entire pilot program. Hillsboro Aero Academy offers potential for growth including opportunities for specialty training, and we offer job placement assistance to experienced CFIs who are looking to take their next step in the industry.
Job Duties:

  1. Perform flight instructor duties authorized by the Federal Aviation Regulation and in accordance with the approved training course outlines.
  2. Ensure compliance with and promotion of the HAA Safety Management System.
  3. Maintain satisfactory student progress through the course(s), ensure course standards and training requirements are met and communicate delays to supervisor.
  4. Accurately maintain all appropriate records associated with student training.
  5. Attend weekly meetings.
  6. Determine aircraft airworthiness.
  7. Attend administrative, standardization, in-service training and instructor development meetings, as assigned
  8. Maintain and apply effective teaching and evaluation techniques.
  9. Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:


  • Must hold a valid FAA Class 2 Medical Certificate
  • Must hold a valid FAA Certified Flight Instructor Rotorcraft Helicopter Rating
  • Must have SFAR 73 CFI Endorsement for R22
  • Must have attended the Robinson Helicopter Company Safety Course
  • Successful completion of FAA Part 141 Proficiency Check.
Required Skills/Experience:
Must be able to plan and organize ground and flight lessons. Strong communications and teaching skills needed. The position requires the person to work independently with the ability to make sound decisions and critique. Attention to detail and good piloting skills are a must.
Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Preferred SFAR 73 CFI Endorsement for R44
  • Preferred FAA Certified Flight Instructor Instrument Rotorcraft Helicopter Rating
