Assistant Base Manager - Falkland Island Search and Rescue

Salary: Competitive with Benefits Based at MPC, Falkland Islands Closing date: Wednesday 18 October 2017 Full time, Permanent (Shift Roster – approx. 6 weeks on, 6 weeks off)

AAR is seeking an Assistant Base Manager to support contract operations for a 24/7 Search & Rescue and Support Helicopter operation on the Falkland Islands. The Assistant BM responsibilities include managing and supervising the activities of all contract resources at the Mount Pleasant Complex (MPC) and interfacing with the UK MOD Designated Officer and scheduling authority. The BM is in charge of all projects and programmes at the site and speaks for AAR at the site. Hours of employment will be shift work with the approximate shift rotation of forty-two duty days on / forty-two Days off.

The required skills and experience for this role include;

  • Five (5) plus years in Aviation Management with demonstrated ability to manage an organization to achieve company goals
  • Two (2) plus years experience as an aviation operations Base Manager (at a minimum) managing a small to medium organization (20 plus personnel)
  • Proven experience managing services contracts including development of budgets, financial performance goals and project schedules so as to maximize company performance and customer satisfaction
  • Experience managing a commercial helicopter contract providing commercial services to a government customer
  • Management and/or operations experience with an EASA Commercial Air Transport or FAR Part 135 helicopter operator
  • Must have experience as a helicopter pilot and/or licensed aircraft engineer
  • Proven experience working with the UK Ministry of Defense (MOD)
  • Must have ability to obtain EASA Commercial License within one year of start date if not already active at the time of hire.
  • Proven experience working effectively with senior military staffs
  • Practical experience and demonstrated performance understanding employee and business requirements for international travel and management of an overseas rotational workforce

Experience as a Search and Rescue Helicopter Pilot is desirable. You must have the ability to work with minimal supervision and to work independently, organising your own workload, whilst indirectly supervising unlicensed engineers in the performance of their tasks.

The programme has multiple partners so you must be an effective team player, capable of working as part of a small dedicated team of engineers and have the ability to interact well with colleagues and the wider business. You must be able to pass a UK MOD Baseline Personnel Security Screening (BPSS), and have the right to work in the Falkland Islands.
