The mission of the contract is to provide New Equipment Training support to United States Army units and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) cases receiving, updating or modifying the CH-47F Cargo Helicopter.  This position supports that task through Maintenance Test Pilot (MP) duties including flight tests to determine that the airframe, power plant, accessories and items of equipage are functioning IAW predetermined requirements.  Performs maintenance as part of a team required to travel to unit locations and apply CH-47F Modification Work Orders (MWO) and government flight missions.   Performs maintenance operational checks of aircraft on the ground through engine run-up, aircraft taxiing or use of auxiliary power or testing equipment, to assure that aircraft systems or components disturbed during an inspection or maintenance action have been repaired, reassembled or adjusted satisfactorily. Performs general maintenance operational test flights to prove the airworthiness of the complete aircraft. Completes test flight check sheets IAW the applicable maintenance manual. Performs limited test flights when it is necessary to prove proper functioning of specific items/components. After each test flight, performs a thorough visual inspection to the extent necessary to ensure that deficiencies developed as a result of the test flight are detected and corrected before the aircraft is released for further flight and completes maintenance forms and aircraft log books. Responsible for the ferrying of new helicopters from assigned locations to the assigned destination. This employee’s performance of duties will be evaluated annually during a check ride to US Government ATM and AR 95-20 standards and his support of the training materiel requirements will be evaluated by his Task Lead through feedback from the supported organization. The employee reports directly to his task lead


High School required plus FAA Commercial Pilot or Airline Transport Pilot rating and the appropriate category endorsements. Must meet all Army initial aircraft qualifications. In addition, must be a graduate of the Army Maintenance Test Pilot Course (CH-47) or have completed an equivalency evaluation conducted by the Directorate of Evaluation and Standardization. Must be able to maintain FAA CL II medical certificate.

Minimum of six years and not less than 1,000 hours first-pilot time, which must include 300 hours in similar aircraft type.
