EASA has specific regulatory responsibilities and executive tasks in the area of aviation safety and delivers certification services to the aviation industry.

In EASA, the Air Crew & Medical Department is responsible for the continuous monitoring of the level of implementation by Member States and the development of Regulatory and safety promotion Material in accordance with EPAS in the domains of Aircrew, Medical and Flight Simulation Training Devices (FSTD). The development of said materials also covers air operations crew training.
Furthermore the Department is responsible, within the EASA remit, for:
 the initial certification and oversight of pilot’s Approved Training Organisations (ATOs) and AeroMedical Centres (AeMCs);
 the qualification of FSTDs;
 Providing the expertise for the development of the Operational Suitability Data in relation to flight crew (OSD-FC) and FSTD (OSD-SIM).

As Flight Crew Training Oversight Expert, you will ensure the efficient conduct of investigations in the relevant field of activity, for both initial demonstration of capability and continued surveillance of Training
Organisations.

The successful candidate will be recruited on a part-time basis (50%)

Your main accountabilities will be to:
 Lead teams during technical assessments and act as the teams’ spokesperson;
 Conduct initial investigation and continuous surveillance in accordance with the internal procedures and work instructions;
 Provide expert input in standardisation and/or accreditation activities;
 Provide expert input in rulemaking activities;
 Give feedback on the performance of approved organisations in order to support the appropriate level of involvement in the field of product certification;
 Support international cooperation activities by organising the assessment of foreign authorities;
 Support technical coordination for specific activities such as but not limited to OSD and Occurrence Reporting with a focus on pilot training.

You will contribute to:
 FSTD Evaluations as Flight Inspector;
 Approved Training Organisation Team as Flight Support the Operational Suitability Data – Flight Crew projects.

Essential criteria:
 Professional experience of at least three years acquired in a technical or operational management field in any of the following areas:
o a civil pilot training organisation;
o air operator’s training;
o a National Aviation Authority as a Flight Inspector or Operations Inspector;
 Valid EU Part-FCL ATPL licence and ratings for civil aircraft with proven current experience as Pilot In Command (PIC) in commercial operations (as recency of the pilot license and PIC experience are expected to be maintained, active pilot career will be allowed to continue outside EASA);
 Proven professional experience as an instructor (FI/TRI):
o on aircraft and/or
o FSTDs on civil professional pilot licence;
 Proven experience in practicing professional aviation initial/recurrent training;
 At least three years of technical expert experience acquired in organisations/institutions in the fields of aviation research, aircraft/systems design/manufacturing, avionics manufacturers, aeronautical engineering and/or aviation safety;
 Excellent command of both written and spoken English

Advantageous criteria:
 University degree in engineering (preferably in aeronautical engineering) or other technical areas (e.g. Mathematics, Physics);
 Proven experience in civil aviation multi-engine/multi-pilot airplanes and/or helicopters and/or FSTD operations;
 Knowledge of auditing techniques and principles of compliance/safety management in the European regulations field, as shown by professional experience in civil aviation and/or training for civil aviation;
 Proven experience in the evaluations of FSTDs as Flight Inspector;
 Valid Rotorcraft license.

Contract and Benefits
 Contract of 5 years, as a Temporary Agent of the European Union with the possibility of extension (grade AD 6);
 Minimum basic gross salary of 2.762,46 EUR (this amount corresponds to 50% of the full-time basic gross salary);
 Salary exempted from national tax on revenue in the EU, but subject to taxation at source for the benefit of the EU budget;
 Additional specific allowances (e.g. expatriation, household, dependent child, installation) depending on the individual’s family situation and the place of origin;
 Annual leave entitlement of at least 24 days;
 Broad specific Sickness and Unemployment Insurance Scheme enabling access to care worldwide; and
 EU Civil Service Pension rights after 10 years of service.
