Position description

The Helicopter Pilot provides rotorcraft pilot services primarily at one of three bases of operation – Eau Claire, WI; Rochester and Mankato, MN with expectation of covering pilot shifts at non-primary base of operation when necessary. Is expected to follow the Mayo Clinic Culture of Safety by modeling five safety behaviors: pay attention to detail; communicate clearly; have a questioning and receptive attitude; hand-off effectively; support each other. The ultimate goal is to place the needs of our patients first by ensuring aviation safety. Will regularly utilize the instrument flight rule (IFR) infrastructure and night vision imaging systems (NVIS) as a standard of flight practice. Will actively participate in management of a Safety Management System (SMS) as well as participate in annual simulation training. Will perform additional tasks as necessary to support the Mayo Clinic air carrier certificate for part 135 operations. The Helicopter Pilot’s weight must not exceed 250 pounds/114 kilograms. Class 1 medical exams must be coordinated through the Mayo Clinic Division of Preventive, Occupational and Aerospace Medicine.

The position is 0.9 FTE/36 hours per week with every other weekend coverage – day and night 12 hour shifts to include scheduled shifts at non-primary base. This position is an FAA safety sensitive position.

Qualifications

Helicopter Instrument Rating. 2,000 total Helicopter Flight Hours. 1,000 total Helicopter PIC Hours. 1,000 total Turbine Hours. 200 Helicopter Night Flight Hours (Aided and/or Unaided).

Additional Qualifications

Prefer the following: EC-145 experience; ATP certificate; rotorcraft currency at time of application; NVIS experience; single pilot IFR experience; 75 Hours Actual Weather or Simulated Weather Flight Hours
