Ownership: Working with passion and doing what needs to be done CHC Ireland is the leading provider of Search and Rescue (SAR) Helicopter Services to the Irish Coast Guard. CHC operates specially equipped Sikorsky S92A aircraft at bases in Dublin, Shannon, Waterford and Sligo.

We are currently recruiting for the role of Technical Crewman (ab initio), CHC Ireland DAC.

Qualifications, Skills & Attributes

Minimum Requirements:

a. PHECC Registered Paramedic License – Candidates must have minimum of two years post qualification experience.

* If applying from outside of Ireland, applicants must provide proof of application for recognition of paramedic level qualifications obtained outside of Ireland. The cost of the recognition of qualification will be incurred by the applicant. Application for recognition can be found at the following link – PHECC – Recognition of qualifications 

b. Eligibility to work in Ireland

c. EASA Class 2 medical – Candidates will be required to be in possession of a Class 2 medical certificate prior to interview stage. Schedule your medical here – Aero-Medical Examiner Contact Details 

d. Physically fit

e. Garda vetting, (or equivalent Police Authority) Clearance Certificate. Candidates will be required to be in possession of same prior to offer of employment.

f. Full Driving License

Desirable Requirements:

· Previous experience of a multi-team rescue service – RNLI, Coastal Rescue Service (IRCG), Civil Defence, Mountain Rescue Teams (MRT) or similar.

CHC Ireland operates a dual role Technical Crew environment, all candidates will be evaluated in the following aspects prior to hire;

· Fitness Testing – Dublin City University · Water confidence tests – National Maritime College of Ireland – https://www.nmci.ie/ 

· Flight Testing – CHC Facility

· Paramedic Assessments – University of Limerick

· Interview

· Psychometric testing

Candidates who fail to meet the minimum requirements will be removed from process.

Applicants should be aware SAR missions occur over austere maritime and mountainous environments and as such carry the potential for extreme physical and emotional situations for the helicopter crew. The personal resilience required of a Technical Crewperson on a SAR mission should not be under estimated.

A panel of ten will be formed on completion of the recruitment process and candidates taken into the business as vacancies arise. There is currently one vacancy with a possible increase for a further three positions in 2021. The panel will be valid for 2 years on completion.

The successful applicant is required to have their main residence within 90 minutes (overland) of their allocated home base. Base location will be advised on offer of employment.
