What is The ACE Training Centre? The ACE Training Centre is a world-class aviation and aeromedical training centre centrally located in Australia’s largest city, Sydney. A leading provider of specialised mission-critical helicopter training to the government, resource, and oil & gas sectors. Our integrated team includes pilots, aircrew officers, helicopter engineers, safety managers, human factors trainers, and aviation management specialists.

Located at Bankstown Airport, Sydney, The ACE Training Centre is a purpose-built facility, incorporating state-of-the-art simulation that includes an AW139 Full Flight Level D simulator. It is Australia’s only Leonardo approved training centre and part of the Leonardo global network of Authorised Training Centres.

Job Description

Part of the Human Factors Team and reporting to the Manager Human Factors, the Aircrew Human Factors Instructor role involves planning, scheduling, developing, and delivering annual Aircrew and Medical Crew Human Factor training. To remain relevant, the successful pilot or aircrewman will be required to maintain operational flying recency through regular operational shifts.

The position will be involved with all aspects of Human Factors training delivered at The ACE Training Centre, including but not limited to:

  • Deliver aircrew/medical crew cyclic training, human factors initial training and bespoke medical human factors training to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Investigation of aviation and medical related safety reports as part of the integration between the HF Team and the Safety & Quality Department.
  • Assist the Human Factors Manager in developing and maintaining Toll’s HF program, as required in support of Toll’s flying contracts.
  • Ensure that the HF training programs meet all extant regulatory requirements particularly IAW Part 119 as well as contractual requirements for current and future contracts involving aircrew and/or medical crews.
  • Participate in the Safety Management System as a Subject Matter Expert including participation in the Fatigue Safety Action Group (FSAG), Safety Action Group (SAG) and any Safety meetings as required.

Qualifications


HFI – Technical experience and knowledge required to be considered:

  • Undergraduate or postgraduate qualification in a relevant area of study.
  • Hold or suitable to complete/upgrade to current version of Cert IV TAE.
  • Previous Human Factors Facilitation qualification (civilian or military) or a Principles & Methods of Instruction (PMI) course (highly desirable).
  • Motivated and skilled to design and deliver quality human factors facilitation.
  • Hold an incident investigation qualification (civilian or military) or suitable to complete the Company sponsored ICAM course.
  • Previous HEMS experience or SAR experience (desirable).

Pilot – Technical experience and knowledge required to be considered:

  • CASA Air Transport Pilots License (Helicopter) with the appropriate endorsements and ratings to act as pilot in command of all NSW EMS operations authorized by the Operator’s certificate
  • 2500 hors rotary wing flight experience
  • 1500 PIC turbine rotary wing
  • 500 hours PIC multi engine turbine rotary wing
  • Minimum 12 months and 100hrs PIC in EMS/SAR operation
  • NVG Endorsement with minimum 50hrs PIC NVG
  • Multi-Engine Command Instrument Rating with minimum 3 renewals
  • CASA Class 1 Medical
  • Comprehensive night, winch and IFR experience

Highly Desirable:

  • AW139 Type Endorsement with minimum 100hrs PIC relevant experience on type
  • EMS/SAR experience on AW139

Aircrewman – Technical experience and knowledge required to be considered

  • Minimum of five hundred (500) hours as a helicopter Aircrewman
  • Completion of left hand seat training
  • Hold the minimum qualifications of Rescue Crewman
  • Hoist operator endorsement in accordance with the relevant CASA CAO 29.11 requirements
  • Minimum of ten (10) hours hoist operations flight training over a three (3) month period
  • SAR operational experience
  • Aircrewman NVG qualified as per CAO 82.6
  • Night operations experience
  • Water hoisting experience
  • Night hoisting experience
  • Current Level 2 Occupational Health and Senior First Aid certificates
  • Current HUET
  • Communication and radio procedures
  • Navigation and flight procedures (IFR/VFR as appropriate)
  • CASA Class 2 Medical Certificate
  • Pass a Toll company fitness test
