SVN: Flight Operations Manager
(Formerly Head of Flight Operations)
The role of Flight Operations Manager reports to the Director of Operations and is responsible for the conduct of safe and compliant flight operations across Company crew-change and SAR operations. They will act as the Form 4 Nominated Person for Flight Operations and will be able to deputise for the Director of Operations, where required. Consequently, the candidate for this role must be acceptable to the CAA.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring that all Flying Staff fulfil their duties and responsibilities in a safe, efficient, and professional manner in accordance with CAA regulations, Company Operations Manual, Company Policy, and customer requirements.
- Planning and recruiting of the correct levels of flying staff to fulfil the Company requirement through constant liaison with internal stakeholders. Ensuring that the requirements are correctly budgeted • Supervising, assisting, and mentoring the welfare, continuous development and appraisals of both Flight Operations Management, Flight Crew and support staff. Providing a structured Career Development Plan for all Flying Staff.
- Controlling the continual improvement & maintenance of Operations Manuals, ensuring they are correctly amended and distributed. Ensuring that the library of each aircraft is complete, up to date and suitable for assigned tasks.
- Conducting regular management visits to Sumburgh and Aberdeen base to provide operational oversight. • Ensuring compliance with aviation regulation, including the Company FTL Scheme. • Monitoring the submission of Safety Reports through Q-Pulse, investigating where required and assuring correct adherence to the FAiR2 process whilst maintaining a Just Culture.
- Auditing of Operational Flight Plans, presenting findings and providing follow-up action at the quarterly Crew-Change Review Board.
- Chair of monthly Flight Operations Safety Review Board.
- Acting as Flight Operations SME both internally and externally, providing expertise and advice when required. This includes input into commercial bids, liaison with customers and liaison with regulating authorities.
- Monitoring, tracking, and preparing for regulatory changes and managing change process to ensure timely completion.
- Completing, monitoring, and progressing all Flight Operations Project work, providing monthly feedback to the Director of Operations or relevant stakeholder, as required.
- It is desirable that the successful candidate maintain currency as a Crew-Change Commander on an appropriate aircraft type.
- Any other reasonable duties as necessary.
Applicants must have the following attributes:
- Significant knowledge and understanding of company Operations Manuals; Part A, B, C, E & F.
- Significant knowledge of regulatory manuals; OM D and ATO, ANO, Part-CAT, Part-ORO, Part-ORA, Part-FCL, CAP804, etc.
- High degree of computer literacy.
Experience / Education:
- Should be a Captain, current in Northern North Sea Crew-Change operations or be able to demonstrate previous relevant experience within the sector. Previous SAR experience is desirable. • Hold a type rating on an aircraft employed in operations in Aberdeen.
- Highly motivated and organised.
- Works with ease under pressure.
- Good people management skills and comfortable with delegation.
- Assertive when the situation demands.
- Able to liaise effectively with the customer and other outside authorities at all levels.
