Responsibilities:

• Safely execute rescue operations from a rotary wing aircraft. The Rescue Specialist shall be physically conditioned to routinely perform demanding rescues in all operational environments

• Must be well versed with advanced rescue techniques and equipment. This includes rescue situations ranging from high hoists, confined areas, elevated platforms, off center hoists, water rescue and vessel operations, both dead in water and underway

• Ability to participate in operations during the day and night, often in adverse weather conditions

• Participate in dynamic flight operations using night vision goggles

• Comply with all federal, state, and country regulations

• Inventory, inspection, minor maintenance, and tracking of rescue equipment and devices, as well as aviation life support equipment

• Act as an aerial observer as required

• Responsible for the packaging and handling of the patient/survivor from the scene into the helicopter

• Assisting the flight paramedic, nurse or physician with patient care and/or render care as defined and designated by the employee’s medical certification

• Post-flight decontamination of the helicopter after mission completion

• Deploy air-droppable rescue equipment as required

• Assist with ground rescue operations as required

• Participate in Safety Management System (SMS) activities to include supporting and promoting the safety culture, reporting all aviation safety-related issues, and adhering to the processes related to accomplishing SMS goals. Participate in the brief and debrief

• Maintains NREMT and associated medical certifications as applicable

• Maintains flight currencies, training minimums, and technical rescue certifications as applicable

• Updates the iSAR Operational Tracking System as required

• Ensure the timely implementation and maintenance of Bristow Global Standards

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent required with College Degree preferred

• Search and Rescue (SAR) or Helicopter Air Ambulance (HAA) operational experience within the last 12 months

• Rescue Swimmer Certification, verified military or civilian NFPA equivalent required and must pass a rotary-wing rescue swimmer competency assessment before operational release and assignment

• One (1) year previous experience on a dedicated rotary-wing SAR aircraft serving as a Rescue Specialist (Winchman, Rescueman, Helicopter Rescue Swimmer) preferred.

• Night SAR Unaided and NVG Operational experience is required

• Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT), equivalent or higher-level certification or able to obtain certification within 12 months of hire

• Able to obtain state reciprocity licensing within 6 months of hire or initial certification

• Possesses or able to obtain an OPITO-approved BOSIET or equivalent with HEEDS survival training

• SAR Instructor cadre experience is preferred

• Must be able to obtain a TSA TWIC Card and U.S. Passport
