The role

The difference our new Barton Base Pilot will make

As a Barton Base Pilot, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. providing mission-critical helicopter services to the air ambulance, police, and offshore sectors.

Day to day, our fleet of 32 helicopters from bases across England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland has been providing dedicated air ambulance support for more than 20 years and our police helicopters have been supporting UK communities for almost a decade.  BMCSO constantly invests in new aircraft, equipment, and training to ensure the consistent capability to deliver safe, dependable operational excellence always.

Headquartered in Staverton, Gloucestershire, BMCSO is a leading provider of aviation services for mission-critical operations across ten countries. The position as for base pilot operating the EC135 aircraft out of Manchester Heliport, Barton in support of the Northwest Air Ambulance Charity through varied and challenging flying across a range of disciplines including Air Ambulance, HEMS, and NVIS operations, if required.

Essential experience

Essential:

  • Hold an UK ATPL(H) or CPL(H) + IR –
  • •    Hold an UK ATPL(H) or CPL(H) + IR –
    •    1000 hours pilot in command of aircraft of which 500 hours is pilot in command on twin turbine helicopters; or 1000 hours as co-pilot in HEMS/Police operations of which 500 hours is as pilot in command under supervision and 100 hours pilot in command of twin turbine helicopters.
    •    20 hours VFR at night as pilot in command.
    •    2000 hours minimum total helicopter experience.
    •    500 hours operating experience in twin turbine helicopters in an operational environment similar to the intended operation.

Ideally:
•    Be qualified and instrument rated on the EC135.
•    Have current or recent HEMS experience.
•    Have experience of NVIS operations.
