Mercy Flight Central will take possession of 4 newly made AgustaWestland AW119Kxi helicopters as early as Spring 2022!

The Pilot in Command must be intimately familiar with Company’s operations manual, FARs, operation specifications, flight planning tools, flight training manuals, and other publications specific to the position.

Job Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ensures that aircraft is airworthy following pre-flight inspection checklist
  • Works as part of a team during takeoffs, in-flight, and landings; directs activities of flight team members during flights.
  • Monitors gauges, warning devices, and control panels to verify aircraft performance and regulate engine speed.
  • Monitor engine operation, fuel consumption, and functioning of aircraft systems during flights
  • Respond to and report in-flight emergencies and malfunctions
  • Notify authorities of an accident, suspected communicable disease, acts of unlawful interference, or landing at an airport other than planned or as caused by circumstances beyond the control of the PIC
  • Check passenger and cargo distributions and fuel amounts to ensure that weight and balance specifications are met
  • Confer with flight dispatchers and weather forecasting systems to keep abreast of flight conditions
  • Completing all post-flight duties, including flight logs, deferred item sheet, notification to the company of any deviation from the planned itinerary or overnight location
  • Record in logbooks information, such as flight times, distances flown, and fuel consumption
  • Perform minor maintenance work, or arrange for major maintenance
  • Test and evaluate the performance of aircraft following maintenance procedures
  • Coordinate flight activities with ground crews and air traffic control and inform flight team members of flight and test procedures
  • File instrument flight plans to ensure that flights are coordinated with other air traffic
  • Conduct in-flight tests and evaluations at specified altitudes and in all types of weather to determine the receptivity and other characteristics of equipment and systems
  • Must confer with duty pilots to perform operational control
  • Must live within a reasonable commute to the assigned base location

Minimum Experience Required:

If not exceeded by applicable national AHJ regulations, the pilot in command must possess the following:

  • 2000 total flight hours (or total flight hours of at least 1,500 hours and recent experience
  • A minimum of 1,200 helicopter flight hours
  • At least 1,000 of those hours must be as PIC in rotorcraft
  • 100 hours unaided (if the pilot is not assigned to an NVG base/aircraft)
  • 50 hours unaided as long as the pilot has 100 hours aided (if assigned to an NVG base/aircraft)
  • A minimum of 500 hours of turbine time 1,000 hours of turbine time strongly encouraged

Certificates and Licensing Required:

  • Must possess at least a commercial rotorcraft helicopter and instrument helicopter rating
  • Must possess FAA Commercial Helicopter, with instrument rating
  • Must possess valid, current FAA Class 2 Medical

  • Must meet minimum vision and hearing standards
  • Work requires assisting the clinical team in the loading/offloading of patients and equipment
  • Must be able to move about and work effectively in the confines of the cockpit
  • Employee’s weight shall not exceed 240 pounds, inclusive of flight suit, appropriate footgear, and helmet
  • Ability to wear a commercially available respirator mask with proper fit when required

Schedule:

  • Full time
  • 7 days on / 7 days off (night-to-day rotation)
  • 12-hour shifts
  • Workover rates for coverage of open shifts during off weeks
