The Opportunity

Leonardo Helicopters UK Customer Support and Training Division are responsible for the support and training of both new ‘to type’ customers and the extensive in-service helicopter fleet operated by many clients in the UK and worldwide, which includes some of the most technologically advanced helicopters in the world and provides LH UK with over 50% of its revenue.

The Training Academy UK provides both initial technical ground-based conversion to type courses and recurrent training for both aircrew and technician personnel, across a range of LH platform types. The Training Academy Instructor/Analyst role is to develop and deliver the modular based, aircraft system courseware; to ensure that all personnel have the knowledge and skills that are required for the operation, acceptance, use, maintenance and repair of the helicopter and its systems, based upon job role.

What you will do

  • Develop courseware; ensuring that all technical content has been researched, evaluated or approved for currency, accuracy and ease of applicability.
  • Assess requirement for re-usability of training content; ensure that the content of all training material exploits fully that which is available and that where it is original, that it is developed to enhance its subsequent re-usability elsewhere.
  • Ensure developed courseware is to the agreed look, style and presentational form and standards.
  • Deliver system training, in a classroom environment, to the customer and internal workforce at TA(UK) and/or at customer premises in the UK or overseas, as per the contract requirement.
  • Ensure that all training delivery is at the required standard to meet fully the requirements and needs of the customer and the training department Key Performance Indicator (KPI) measure.

  • Provide technical support for the development and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of high quality, complex, synthetic trainers developed for Leonardo Helicopters and/or external customers.
  • To provide back up for the lead subject matter expert (SME) as required.
  • To deliver system training on an occasional basis with the customer in aircraft trial scenarios either in the UK or overseas.

What we are looking for

You really must have:

  • The ability to communicate effectively at all levels, internally and with suppliers, sub-contractors and Customers.
  • An ability to adapt your communication and delivery style to customers from a wide variety of cultural and educational backgrounds
  • To be computer literate and will be able to use modern computerised multi- media packages including word processing and presentation software.
  • Extensive knowledge of Rotary Wing aircraft (ideally Leonardo Helicopters products) to a supervisory level.
  • Willingness to travel within the UK and overseas.

It would be nice if you had:

  • An understanding of the Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT) and modern training systems
  • Have an appreciation for the requirement of a Training Needs Analysis and Course Design.
  • Hold a formally recognised teaching qualification or have relevant instructional qualification.
