Position Purpose

The Crew Chief has the responsibility to ensure that the aircraft is maintained and inspected to company and FAA standards. The Crew Chief will also direct the maintenance crew in all other functions. The Crew Chief is responsible for maintaining positive relationships and reliable experience with external operations factors.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Trains and assists staff in the proper methods, practices, and procedures of each job function.
  • Oversees removal and replacement of components.
  • Performs and oversees inspections, troubleshooting, and repair of all aircraft systems such as electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical.
  • Performs and oversees aircraft structural and sheet metal inspections and repairs.
  • Performs and oversees limited component maintenance steps, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Performs and oversees preventative maintenanceu2014oil changes, greasing, and tire changes.
  • Supervises the fueling of aircraft, ordering, and receiving fuel deliveries.
  • Performs visual inspections of the operating aircraft.
  • Ensures the helicopter landing area, the equipment trailer, and the maintenance equipment are maintained so that proper maintenance can be performed.
  • Maintains an accurate POD inventory.
  • Maintains accurate inspection and maintenance records.
  • Oversees work and training of Field Mechanics
  • Provides leadership, motivation, mentoring, enforces and disciplinary actions
  • Maintains current crew schedule and oversees quality of performance and product

Job Requirements:

  • Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic’s Certificate.
  • 5 years’ experience working on aircraft in a field environment.
  • Full RTS on aircraft or able to meet the requirements to be listed on the RTS Repair Station Roster.
  • Supervisor and management experience and experience as a crew chief on Type 1 helicopters preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalency
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Valid passport, or able to obtain within 60 days of employment.
  • Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally as directed and drive company vehicles or rental vehicles as directed.
  • FAA Inspection Authorization Rating desired.
  • Must be able to communicate verbally in an accurately and professional way. Ability to write in a clear and concise manner.
