The Role:

The Aviation Capability Group is experiencing significant growth and to due to this growth, we are seeking an experienced Senior Aircrew Officer based in Cairns. The successful applicant will be required to ensure compliancy for all flight operations in a check and training capacity, monitoring staff and assisting the BASE Manager for
all human resource related staff concerns.

Special Conditions

Prior to appointment, the successful applicant will be required to complete an initial psychological assessment to determine their suitability to perform the inherent occupational requirements of the role. In compliance with CASA Drug and Alcohol Management Plan requirements, the preferred applicant will be required to undergo pre-employment testing and participate in the QGAir Drug and Alcohol Management Program.

Your Key Accountabilities will include:

  • Supervise Aircrew Officers and Rescue Crew Officers and manage human resource issues, such as leave.
  • Coordinate rostering of crew and undertake rostered Aircrew duties as required.
  • Ensure accurate records are maintained of crew’s flight, duty time and recall.
  • Assist the Chief Aircrew Officer with ensuring records of crew currency and recency in all operational roles and coordinate training and currency requirements in accordance with the Operations Manual.
  • Assist the Base Manager to ensure the base is operationally and administratively efficient and perform their administrative duties in their absence.
  • Carry out all duties and training as specified in the Helicopter Rescue Operations Manual and ensure a high standard of aircraft presentation.

Mandatory requirements:

  • Possession of C Class Drivers Licence.
  • Have held Bronze Medallion Life Saving Qualification, Certificate II in Public Safety, Current Senior First Aid, Current Advanced Resuscitation.
  • 1500 hours rotary wing aeronautical experience as an Aircrew Officer.
  • Competence in Helicopter winching and rappelling operations.
  • CASA approval as a Rotary Wing Night Vision Goggle Aircrew Member Instructor within six months of appointment.
  • Current CASA Aviation Class Medical Certificate.
  • CASA approval as an Aircrew Training Officer within six months of appointment.
  • Certificate IV in Aviation Aircrew Officer.
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment within six months of appointment.
