The Opportunity
Leonardo Helicopters has a lifetime opportunity for a Helicopter Rear Crew Instructor!
As Rearcrew Instructor you will act as the Rearcrew Subject Matter Expert (SME) in support of customer flying training. You will be designing and developing all training material to comply with LH(UK)/MAA regulations and standards, type conversion flying training and basic role flying training of non-pilot aircrew on AW101/AW159 and System Operator Consol Simulator (SOCS) for the NAWSARH customer. Currently you will be required to work on NAWSARH, Philippines and Poland, which includes in country support in Norway and in the Philippines as well as UK delivery to the Poland AW101 programme.

What you will do
- Supporting conduct of TNA or other technical assessment and analysis of requirement with your customer as directed by your team leader
- Supporting the development and content of all Flying Training Courses including use of the SOCS and ULTD for AW101, DSE for Super Lynx and AW159 aircraft as well as training on the aircraft
- Providing subject matter expertise for the development of high quality, complex, training material for LH(UK) and/or external customers
- Providing the safe and efficient conduct of flying operations and flying training undertaken by the AW101, Super Lynx and AW159 students
- Ensuring compliance with all extant flying related regulations and documentation
- Be responsible for the performance of the flying training in accordance with the CRS 23 LH(UK) Flying Operations Manual, contract requirements and to the satisfaction of the Customer
- Be responsible for the delivery of ground training/testing as required
- Making proposals for improving safety standards and efficiency in training
- Ensuring that consistent standards are applied to training delivery across aircraft platforms.
- Controlling and maintaining the flying training documentation and records
- Ensuring that you are fully briefed on customer expectations, agreed requirements and outcomes before contracted work commences
- Be aware of and respond appropriately to any personal or welfare issues affecting students and consult / refer upwards to your team leader/line manager over issues likely to affect student participation or learning
- Providing an internal customer interface with LH(UK) Customer Support and Training directorate to ensure that internal customer training requirements are captured and met
- Contributing to forward planning of tasks and resource requirements by analysing both current and planned business activities in your area of responsibility and identifying potential resource requirements and issues
- Keeping abreast of new and emergent technologies and look for ways in which they can support and improve upon the products offered by the company
- Assisting with resource planning, by identifying future skill requirements and devising interventions so that skills gaps are filled
- Keeping technical/professional knowledge up-to-date in support of business activities and share this knowledge as appropriate
- Complying with standard procedures and policies laid down by the company and expanded within LH(UK)TA and/or those which are project specific
What we are looking for
Essential Qualifications
- Ex RN QAI
- Ex RN AW101/Lynx/Wildcat/Sea King 1500hrs on type
- Minimum 2000hrs twin engine helicopter as Rearcrew
- Minimum B1(Instructor) 200hrs instruction
- Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Instructor (Sonar and Radar)
Highly Desirable Qualifications
- QAI A2 500hrs airborne instruction
- NVG qualified
- Previous involvement in course design and development
- Familiar with Defence System Approach to Training
