Role Summary

We are looking for a Safety & Quality Specialist to join our team at CHC Helicopter! The primary role of the Safety & Quality Specialist is to provide support to the UK AOC organisational team members for the effective engagement and resolution of regulatory, safety, quality and compliance issues whilst meeting the objectives and KPIs for organisational performance.

Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of the Safety & Quality Specialist are:

  • Lead audit activities ensuring they provide effective oversight of maintenance (Part 145), Airworthiness (Part M/CAMO) and Third Party Suppliers
  • Support the performance of the internal and external audit programs, and safety investigation activity
  • Participate in regular meetings with stakeholders to monitor and review audit and investigation findings
  • Ensure the effective completion of the Daily Safety Risk Meeting (DSRM) and coordinate report management for effective actions and outcomes, including internal escalation and communication with external bodies
  • Support the preparation and delivery of executive reports (monthly Operational Review Board & SMS Quarterly & Annual Reviews)
  • Act as the lead investigator on the identification and collation of factual information, analysis of data (HFACS), issue of safety recommendations and implementation of follow up actions for inclusion in the Safety Quality Integrated Database (SQID)
  • Support and contribute to the coordination, development, implementation and continuous improvement of the AOC emergency response plan
  • Provide support and direction to stakeholders on the reporting of mandatory requirements to appropriate authorities (UK CAA, AAIB) within the required timeframes.

Qualifications, Skills & Attributes

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Knowledge of UK CAA and EASA regulations applicable to Air Operators
  • Professional qualification in aviation is preferred or equivalent education, training and experience
  • Lead Auditor and Incident Investigator qualification and experience is preferred
  • Relevant experience in an Operations or Maintenance environment is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office products
  • Be self-motivated and results oriented with a focus on safety and risk management
  • Excellent listening, verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work in a rapidly evolving and dynamic environment
  • Be a demonstrated team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work cohesively with a team of aviation professionals
