Ensures the safe and efficient operation of all rotary wing aircraft operated by the Police Air Wing by piloting the aircraft in accordance with the Civil Aviation Regulations, the Civil Aviation Orders and the Western Australian Police Air Wing Operations Manual.


It is a requirement that the position holder is successful in obtaining within a six month period and maintaining a NEGATIVE VETTING LEVEL 1 security clearance for the duration of their appointment in the position.

It is a requirement of the position that applicants undertake a psychological and flight assessment to determine their suitability for this position.

Position holder will be regularly examined for pilot and safety competence in accordance with CASA regulatory requirements.

The Group's operations include rotary wing companies specialising in Search and Rescue, Marine Pilot Transfer, Executive Charter, Utility, Contract Services and Tourism.  We operate from bases at Gladstone, Mackay and Port Hedland.

To be considered for the role, you will need to possess the following qualifications and experience.

  • 2500 hours  helicopter
  • 100 hours Multi Engine helicopters
  • NVFR rating
  • 100 hours night
  • 300 hrs offshore
  • CIR (ME) helicopter – 3 Renewals
  • HUET
  • EC135/A109 experience is highly desirable.
  • Ship landings are highly desirable

This position is based at Mackay Airport.
