Soloy Helicopters is an Alaskan-owned and operated helicopter charter company based out of the Wasilla airport in Wasilla, Alaska. We currently operate a fleet of 19 utility-equipped: AS350B3e, AS350B3, AS350B2, MD Helicopters 369D, BK117B2, Bell 205A1++, R44 Raven II

Soloy Helicopters supplies helicopter support for all types of industry and government services in Alaska, specializing in precision long-line work with core and seismic drill exploration programs. As a Shop/Field mechanic your principal accountabilities will be:

  • Overseeing and performing scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance; inspections and corrosion control of aircraft components, airframe and powerplant; maintain appropriate aircraft records and logs.
  • Report to the Maintenance Manager and or Site Manager.
  • Must be customer oriented.
  • Remove and install aircraft subsystem assemblies and components such as engines, rotors, transmissions, mechanical flight controls and their components.
  • Service and lubricate aircraft and subsystems.
  • Safely prepare aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks and services.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections and assist in performing special inspections.
  • Perform maintenance operational checks and diagnoses and troubleshoots aircraft systems using special tools and test equipment as required.
  • Apply comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as aircraft Technical Manuals, Comply with applicable Government and FAA rules and regulations on maintenance and follow appropriate aircraft technical data.
  • Maintain and repair aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.
  • Apply technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and use required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation.
  • Perform daily/post-flight/thru-flight inspections as required and performs necessary maintenance to correct any malfunctions.
  • Conduct off-station maintenance when required.
  • Effectively communicate with the customer in a courteous, professional manner and research any reported aircraft discrepancies through fault isolation to make repairs.
  • Service aircraft with fuel, oil, etc. in preparation for flight.
  • Servicing and maintaining company vehicles and support equipment (i.e. external water buckets, internal water tanks, generators, etc.).
  • Maintain aircraft log books, status reports, historical and administrative data as required.
  • Participate in maintenance test flights and operation checks as required.
  • May be required to function as Safety/Training/Supply point of contact in the Field environment.
  • Posses the willingness to adjust work schedule in order to ensure aircraft availability to customers.
  • Willingness to travel to remote field locations throughout Alaska and The Lower 48 States.

Job Requirements:

  • Must be FAA A&P certificated.
  • Experience on Aircraft Models: AS350B2/B3/B3e~BK117B1/B2~MD500D~Bell205A1++/212/ R44 (Not required, but we would like to see at least some experience maintaining previously listed models)
  • Factory training a plus.
  • Honeywell LTS101, T53, Arriel 2D/2B1 (Safran), Rolls Royce, Lycoming IO-540 Engine experience a plus.
  • Previous field experience a plus.
  • Able to legally work in the US.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Valid passport.
